Easter eggs

On Wednesday, I had Taylor & Jenna after school, so we colored eggs.

We only had about 45 minutes, so while the eggs were cooking, we played a Strawberry Shortcake card game-similar to Old Maid.

Jenna, proudly displaying her pink egg!

Taylor, showing off his ability to use the copper wire thing that comes with the kit.

All finished! I let them choose 12 favorites to take home. They said they could easily eat 12 eggs in 1 1/2 days before they left for Belize!

Winter Fun

The kids at school had so much fun on the big snow piles.

We allowed the kids with snow pants and boots to jump, roll, slide, or whatever. We knew the snow wouldn't be here too long.

My niece, Jenna, pulling the sled back up the hill. The kids started at the top of the snow pile, then went down to the bottom of the hill.

The line for the sleds. We were proud of our fourth graders who helped give rides or pushed the little ones or pulled them on the sleds without being asked.
Most of the winter has been very cold and we haven't had many days to enjoy all the snow this year. Glad we had this chance.

Blizzard continued

Corky pushing the snow. He's only about 9 or 10 and looks so little in the skid loader.

The way the wind blew, it formed this neat drift on the roof.

First pass through the drive. I was surprised how much that little loader could push.

It probably took 1 1/2 hours to clean the drive with the loader. I don't want to think how long Ed & I would have been there. We'd maybe still be out there!

When it was all said and done, this is the snow pile at the end of the parking area. It's the most snow that I can remember piled up here.

Trees along Rt. 30 by Mansfield

When we got home, neither of us had boots, so we had to walk through some drifts up to our knees to get to the house. The car is at the end of the drive.

These were probably the biggest drifts we have had by our steps before. They were above our knees and you couldn't get to the house without going through them. Parts of the deck and drive had very little snow and other parts were very deep.

Ed & I work for about 1/2 hour and this is how far we got. We decided we'd be there past midnight at that rate, so I called Phil and he sent Corky to help us out.

This is all the further we could get into the driveway. I shoveled from the front door out to the car. We shoveled the car out just before Corky got here.

I'll put a few more pictures on the next post.

So who cleans up behind us?

We have been enjoying the birds on the deck this winter. It's amazing how much they can eat!
