It's amazing how many different kinds of cacti there are! This is new growth this spring.
This cactus looks like it is having a bad hair day!
This is a crested fan. I understand it is an abnormality that sometimes grows at the top of a cactus. This one was growing on the ground.

According to the guy who knows everything at the park, this cactus got too much water. This cactus grows one of these stalks once during it's life. He said this plant was plenty young for the stalk.

After many corrections, I finally remembered to call this a "sa-wa-ra". It is not pronounced as it looks, "saguaro".

Yeah Tucson pictures! :) Sheesh! It looks like it may have taken you all weekend to post all of these! Nice work. Looking at them I just wonder how on earth your visit went SO fast!! I wish I could have taken off work all week. :( Unfortunately that's discouraged... but just like the museum-- when something is a "no no" I just want to do it all the more!
Thanks for posting the pics-- I think I'm going to copy some for my own files! :) Miss you already.
(PS-- the ham and bean soup turned out great! :))
Cacti, shacti!! I could like cacti. I can see why they are interesting to see. Nice pics.
DJ
Joyce, which cactus was Donna's favorite? or should I say "preference"?
Donna didn't give her favorite, but there was at least one there that didn't have a name, so she could name it for me.
